ABOUT US

Tucked away in the beautiful village of Sutton-on-the-Forest, just a few miles north of York, The Rose & Crown has been a part of village life for generations. This traditional country pub has long been a place for locals and visitors to gather, share a pint, and enjoy good, honest food in a welcoming setting.

After being closed for two years, we’re proud to say the doors are open once again — now under the care of Malcolm and Eileen Goodwin, who bring with them over 40 years of experience in the pub industry. Having run pubs across Yorkshire, they’re delighted to breathe new life into this much-loved local and bring back its unique charm.

We’re also thrilled to be working with Chef Stef, who has previously worked alongside Malcolm and Eileen. With more than two decades of experience and a real passion for proper pub food, Stef and his team bring flavour, warmth, and creativity to every plate — the kind of food that keeps people coming back.

Whether you’re popping in for a quiet drink by the fire, enjoying a leisurely lunch, or meeting friends in the garden on a sunny afternoon, we hope you’ll feel right at home.

Our menu features hearty pub classics made with quality ingredients, along with a much-loved Sunday lunch that brings in both regulars and first-time visitors. The bar is well-stocked with real ales, fine wines, and a warm smile. We’re dog-friendly, family-friendly, and above all, proud to be part of this wonderful village once again.
